The Rolex Tournament
I was playing the pro tour back in the 90’s and miraculously made it to the finals of the Rolex tournament in Switzerland! I have to admit I have a fetish for watches. I was salivating for that Rolex Oyster P., the prize for the winner!!
The Opponent
My opponent shows up. I never heard of her. She was 10 years younger (maybe 15 yrs old). She was quite snobbish, with a bodyguard, 10 tennis racquets and her mother by her side. I wanted to teach her a lesson for being that snobbish. I thought I had that watch in my pocket. Well, throughout the match I didn’t see the ball. She beat me in 45 min, 6-0, 6-1. That was the last time I touched a tennis racquet. Embarrassed, I returned to the USA, enrolling in grad. school to “get a life”. Looking back, I don’t feel too bad now, since that teenager went on to be one of the top players in history.
